[ True to his word, Midoriya does get there within ten minutes. He might have cheated, just a little bit to get there a little faster but at eight minutes in he's skidding into the front desk, asking where Todoroki's holed up. A few minutes later, he's knocking lightly on the door and peeking in to make sure he's got the right one.

In one hand is a backpack, stuffed to the brim with all of the notes and books from lectures missed, and in the other is a grocery bag, with the cakes, candy and eating utensils. Sliding in, he lets the door close quietly behind him and toes his shoes off, padding over to where Todoroki's settled in the bed. It never stops being jarring, seeing someone there, but Recovery Girl's made it clear that some things need to heal naturally. ]

With a minute to spare.

[ Smiling faintly at him, Midoriya slings the bag next to the bed and settles the groceries on top of the little table. ]

Do you need anything? Water?

[After the sheer amount of times Midoriya went and broke his bones, she'd just sent Shouto off to the hospital to get treated there instead. So he's lying there with his leg bandaged up and suspended.

But he makes a little grabbing motion for Izuku to get closer.]

You.

[Which means he'd much rather Midoriya didn't leave him alone.]

[ Ruining it for everyone, neat. Midoriya edges closer, eyeing the way he's in bed and very, very gingerly comes closer and settles himself right onto the edge of the bed at Todoroki's side, planting a foot on the chair he's dragged over to balance himself. ]

I'm here.

[ And giving Todoroki a thorough once over that has nothing to do with intent and everything to do with seeing how injured he is, grimacing. ]

Are they taking care of you?

[Shouto gives him a bland look. He's in the hospital? Of course the doctors and nurses are doing their jobs. At least his was a clean break and not a complete shattering of every bone in his leg.]

It's their job to.

[ Midoriya huffs out a laugh, shaking his head. ]

I know, I know. I just want to make sure they're doing it well!

[ Being bedridden sucks. Fiddling with the drawstrings of his hoodie, Midoriya gingerly shifts on the bed, careful not to sit on his arm on accident. ]

Oh! Do you want the cake now?

[Shouto reaches up and tugs on one of the drawstrings, likely wrapping his hand around Midoriya's.]

[ Midoriya's mouth opens in protest but he swallows it back; Bakugou's able to do what he wants and if he wants to burn the roof of his mouth with coffee then go for it. For his own, he pads over to the fridge and pours a splash of milk into it, leaving it next to the coffee maker for when the others wake up. ]

Sure, but it's also for whatever you wanted to use it for.

[ Midoriya tugs out his cellphone and bites back a groan. Hot pockets are so small why do they take so long to cook. Leaning against the counter instead of sitting on it, he takes long sips of his coffee, blowing over the top to try and cool it just a little. ] Wouldn't be able to sleep even if I did. Besides, this is nice.

[ Early mornings are quiet and slow and despite desperately wanting a shower after his run, he'd rather be right here right now when both of their edges seem a little softer ]

[Well, Bakugou isn't exactly the modest type, especially when it comes to staring. He has a careful but long sip of the black coffee, and his red eyes peer at Midoriya from over the mug, unwavering. A little piercing, not unlike a predator bird watching its prey.

It isn't meant to be so fierce, but he's a little intense without realizing.] You already know what you can do. [His voice sounds like gravel from the hot coffee, but it's low, like a secret.]

Your little fucking hand-me-down; you already know what you're capable of doing, don't you? You've got someone to tell you. It's the rest of us you're wanting to write notes about in that notebook of yours.

[ Midoriya is quiet for a few moments, not sure if he’s going to do more harm than good here because navigating the subject of quirks with Bakugou is like navigating a mine field sometimes. ]

It isn’t as easy as it sounds.

[ Back onto the counter he goes, watching Bakugou. It’s clear he’s picking his words carefully, tentatively. He knows what All Might is- no, was capable of, and eventually he’ll get there with enough work. But everyone else has unique ones, and are figuring out new ways to use them. ]

Besides, I know the extent of my quirk, to a point, but everyone else... especially you, Kacchan, you’re always doing something amazing.

[It comes without any kind of hesitation at the tail end of Midoriya's words. He takes another sip of coffee before putting the mug on the edge of the counter where it starts from the oven.

But his eyes still don't leave Midoriya's face.] Take a piece of your own damn advice. Whatever bullshit you told Half 'n Half. "It's yours"?

I don't give a shit how it works. You've got it now. That means if you don't start making it your own, I'm going to leave you in the fucking dust. You can eat the rest of my handouts when I'm the top hero.

[ He doesn’t roll his eyes but it’s a close thing, curling both hands around the mug. Bakugou’s secondary quirk is making pep talks sound as aggressive as possible apparently.]

I know. I’m still figuring that out, but I will.

[ Behind him the pot gurgles as it finishes and once it’s done midoriya grabs it and tops Bakugou’s mug off first and then his own. ]

Hey, why are you up so early anyway?

[ It can’t just be to protect his hot pockets. ]

I go to bed early, so I get up early. [He looks away, eyes dropping down to the mug that climbs again with black coffee to the rim.] I hate all you other fuckers, so I wanna be alone for a while before having to go to class.

Why are you up so early and eating my damn hot pockets?

[ literally every hero you work with so Midoriya can ask them approximately 50000 questions about their powers. ]

Nope, I don't think so? I'll text over my address.

[ His apartment is spotless already, thanks to his mom visiting earlier in the week and him rush-panic cleaning just to make sure she didn't worry, so that's not an issue. By the time Connor arrives, Midoriya's sacked out on the couch waiting for his phone to buzz, lazily flipping through apps. ]

[Conner was thinking something more like a comic book or t-shirt.]

Cool. I'll text you again when I'm close.

[Between distance and dealing with letting various people know he's leaving one country and going to hang out in another for awhile, it takes Conner some time to fly over even if he's got super speed. That and he doesn't think causing random sonic booms just for what's pretty much a booty call is a good idea. But eventually he's flying over Midoriya's city and sending him a quick text. 'B there in 5'. And true to his text, about five minutes later someone rings Midoriya's doorbell. Kon's dressed more casually, leather jacket over a t-shirt and jeans and a backpack hanging off one shoulder while he waits for his friend to open the door.]

conner: "I've only got twelve dollars, Midoriya"

[ Don't enable him.

Five minutes til, Midoriya gives his apartment another once-over and then stares at himself in a mirror for a few moments. He doesn't look bad, he supposes. He doesn't look like he's dressed for a date but this isn't really... a date, even if he thinks it's probably not a terrible idea to ask if Kon wants to get dinner afterward. He could cook or order something in but he's not sure how often he gets to come to Japan.

Booty calls don't need to be good hosts, but still. Midoriya opens the door when the bell goes off and smiles up at the other hero, the door widening so he can pass. ]

Did you make it here alright?

Pretty much, yep

When the door opens, Kon flashes his usual crooked grin.]

Flight was all good. Just the usual red tape stuff to deal with.

[He steps into the apartment, floating off the floor to pull his shoes off.]

I still don't know how ya manage to keep your place so clean. Hope I didn't keep ya waiting too long.

[ It takes every inch of him not to ask a million questions about just what kind of red tape he has to deal with. Instead, Midoriya waves it off, desperately trying for nonchalance and then Kon floats and clearly, he's being tested. ]

No, no, it's fine. Really.

[ He has visitors often enough it's never dirty but for once there isn't a pile of clothing being moved from bed, to another flat surface and back to the bed to avoid putting them away. Small blessings. ]

...How fast were you able to fly here? Where did you fly from?

[ Midoriya makes it over to Bakugou's apartment a little later than he intends to; he spends a good amount of time photographing the options he has on his side, which aren't many but helps him remember what he does and doesn't have. When he arrives, though, he's dressed casually; jeans and a t-shirt, with a jacket trimmed in orange. He's absolutely repping Bakugou's merchandise, partially because he loves that he's able to and also because he wants to fluster him just a little bit if he can.

Knocking three times on the door, he waits for Bakugou to answer, thumbing idly through his phone as he waits. ]

[Well, the flustering doesn’t work as badly as it could have, but he does double-take when he opens the door and finds Midoriya standing in his colors, in his merch. As much initial huffing and puffing (yelling) he did, he has now resigned himself to the only defeat he’ll suffer unless he is particularly riled up one day with enough energy to argue.

The unfortunate thing is, he might return the favor. He answers one hundred percent in nothing but a pair of fitted, black boxer-briefs and an unbuttoned white shirt, almost like he had been caught in the middle of figuring out what the hell to try on.]

Took you long enough. Are you going in that shit?

[Um. Not that he’d mind...!! Shut up.

Stepping back, he turns and heads further inside, letting Midoriya come in without any kind of dramatic invitation.]

[ Somehow, he expects that Bakugou's going to open the door more clothed than this, but, no. No, he's in briefs and a shirt and Midoriya has the sudden, slightly hysterical urge to go to his knees and lick his abs because they're there and while they may be older Bakugou's still one of the most ridiculously attractive people he's ever met.

He rolls his eyes to the ceiling and prays for strength before nudging past him. Better they don't scandalize his probably very nice neighbors. ]

No, I'll go back and change. My agency's going to send a car anyway, if you wanted to ride with me.

[ What he doesn't say is that he's wearing normal clothes because he has a sneaking suspicion that if he came in a suit, they'd get it wrinkled before he even got there and at least seven different people would murder him for showing up messy. So, casual clothes for the time being. ]

I'm going to wear this jacket, though.

[ The jacket, which he tosses over the back of the couch gently ]

[It’s not untrue they would arrived wrinkled and untucked and disorderly, and yeah, they would be in trouble. But at least they would be feeling great regardless.

His red eyes drop to the jacket on the couch then lift back toward Midoriya. He doesn’t know whether to pretend to be annoyed or smirk, so Midoriya gets a lopsided one. Stupid. Why is Midoriya trying to embarrass him in public?] Maybe. [The threat is there. It’d be better if he could rustle Midoriya’s formal clothes, but whatever.

If he’s in his own, that’s fine. It’d be harder on Midoriya then.] You’re lucky that’s my shit, or I’d destroy it. [Again, he turns and keeps going further into the apartment, up the set of stairs to the next floor and the open room just off the landing. The inside is decorated much like one would expect, though there’s a mature edge to the darker colors and the order of posters and items. All Might posters, one of the top four, some slightly rarer memorabilia.

What he won’t talk about is the class photo, framed, and—is that Deku merchandise trying to be hidden away in the clear display box in the corner? Maybe.] There. [He waves at the bed. There’s only two suits: black, of course, and a dark navy. But there’s several colored shirts and three vests.] I better not look stupid when you’re done.

[ The look is its own victory; Midoriya doesn't do more than hide his own smile in response. He doesn't pull off 'innocent' very well when it comes to Bakugou but he can still try. Rather than risk a fight, Midoriya follows him through the apartment and catalogs everything just like he does when he visits any of them. ]

Why do you think I wore it?

[ Midoriya doesn't have the best fashion sense ever, but it is one thing that he's listened to the others on and after a particularly rough time he'd read a series of articles and watched a dozen YouTube videos until he had at least a passing understanding. Bakugou is going to look stunning no matter what, but that isn't the question. Really, the question is which one makes him look the best, and which one is Midoriya going to peel him out of later. ]

This is like a present I can wrap and then get to unwrap at the end of the night. Okay. Try this one first.

[ Midoriya grabs Bakugou by the shirt starts buttoning him up, watching Bakugou's face with a tiny smile. When he reaches the top, he grabs the black suit and pushes orange at him. Does Bakugou want to match? Maybe accent...colors or something? That's probably too ambitious and outside the realm of articles and youtube videos to understand how to make a basic suit work. ]

[ Thanks to the nurses, Midoriya's lock screen and his home screen are both pictures of them together. It's ridiculous but Bakugou hasn't noticed yet so Midoriya isn't going to call any more attention to it than he absolutely needs to. It's...cute. Bakugou's face smooths out when he's sleeping and he looks younger, softer. It's the kind of photos that he hopes they're going to be able to take someday when Bakugou's awake, but that's still a work in progress and he knows it.

In the meantime, Bakugou is discharged to his apartment, with the strict instructions of making certain he doesn't tear any stitches. For some reason the nurse from earlier levels a look at him, points, and tells him to make sure which okay, fine, that's valid but it's not like Bakugou's going to listen to him, not really.

They take a cab to Bakugou's place where Midoriya tells him he knows he's not going to follow any of the instructions but like, at least try? Maybe? He vanishes a few hours to get things like food and anything else that Bakugou doesn't have readily available, along with his laptop and a few other miscellaneous things from his apartment. On his way back he buys two more bags of groceries and supplies, so by the time he's back in Bakugou's apartment his arms are full and while he's not straining it's weird to feel like a piece of himself is missing. Maybe missing isn't the right word; it's not a bad feeling, but it feels like there's a thread, something connecting him to Bakugou. Did All Might feel this too, with him?

It's not something he can ask so he shoves it down and focuses on unpacking. Grocery bags are put in the kitchen and Midoriya tugs something else out of the bag - a massive, soft blanket which he casually drops on top of Bakugou's head on the way back into the kitchen. ]

I'm going to make dinner, do you want anything in particular? [ A pause, considering. ] I'm not making hot pockets for dinner, just so you know.

[Going home feels great. Even though the hospital room hadn’t exactly been small, being able to stretch his legs with walking somewhere besides the bathroom and maybe the canteen was wonderful. The air outside, he took it for granted. It takes him at least two minutes of standing out front, engulfing slow, deep breaths of air before the taxi arrives.

There’s actually no complaint when Midoriya hovers and finally refuses nothing short of staying over. He gets some alone time when Midoriya is gone, and it’s enough to recharge his social batteries, to walk around a bit and put things up he hadn’t before they left for the gala initially, to shower. It looks like his mom had come by at least once to clean briefly, check on things.

The top of his wild hair and his red eyes peer up over the back of the couch when Midoriya returns, watchful. He grunts when the blanket covers him, reaching up to yank it down... and kind of hug it to feel it for a moment or two. Soft. He dumps it beside him. Bigger fish—he’s like a child or maybe a cat, and pretty soon, he’s at the edge of the kitchen to see what all Midoriya had bought and is putting away. Curious.] Sucks.

I want some fucking curry bad.

[He moves further in, drawn by some weird force.] Do you want me to help with something or whatever? [He hates, like, standing around doing nothing, but he knows Midoriya is gonna try to baby him.] Third cabinet from the fridge. Stick it wherever.

[ Technically he probably could have left early, but they weren't going to stick anyone else in that room, and Midoriya was technically still injured. Not seriously, but with his arm the way it was it did make it easier and he was on strict duty not to answer any hero calls unless it was an absolute emergency.

Now that they're out and can eat food that's not squirreled in by their friends, he fully intends to exhaust the extent of his culinary skills in Bakugou's kitchen at least today, and then maybe tomorrow. He's not sure how long he needs to stick around but he doesn't want to actually bother Bakugou when he does value his alone time. ]

Maybe they're for me and not you.

[ They're for Bakugou, but it doesn't matter. Midoriya pulls out a few more items, lining the counters with what he's going to make tonight. The comment makes it easier; he pulls out an assortment of things in the various bags, and then turns after he pulls out a cutting board. He's absolutely going to fuss over Bakugou but he knows how it feels to feel like he's useless. Best thing he can do is make sure Bakugou's not. ]

If you can cut everything I give you into bite-sized chunks it'll go faster than just me doing it.

[ It won't actually take that much time to do it himself, but if Bakugou's in here and not in the living room then he probably doesn't want to be alone so this is an easy fix. ]
